Wappenwerk

“Why don’t you come along to the reenactment…”

That’s how it all began – out of simple curiosity, I agreed to go. What was meant to be just a first glimpse quickly turned into a new hobby, and eventually into a passion. Alongside historical fencing (HEMA), reenactment became an important part of my life.

Painting had been a hobby of mine since childhood, sometimes more, sometimes less – and eventually, word spread within the group. Gradually, others noticed my enjoyment of painting and asked if I could create something for them. This led to the concept for my first medieval painting project: a pavise. I chose a common scene in the late Middle Ages: St. George and the dragon – a beginning that soon grew into much more. Following that came standards for associations, heraldic poles, additional shields, and various smaller works. And then I thought… why not? I’ll take the step and start a small business.

Thus, that pavise marked the beginning of Wappenwerk. What started as a hobby became a craft, and from that craft grew a vocation. Today, I create shields, banners, tents and more according to individual wishes – always with the goal of bringing history to life.
