Medieval art, newly created.
Medieval glassart
The term “medieval art” does not only encompass painting; it includes many other forms as well. In addition to painting, I also want to give space to other traditional arts and crafts to help preserve history and bring it to life.
I would like to start with medieval glass art. Matthias Schäfer has been working for years with glass forms from the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, recreating them based on historical finds. The glasses are produced in collaboration with a workshop in the Czech Republic that specializes in historical techniques. There, forms and colors are created based on medieval models and the few known originals. Some of the colored sands come from our own collection or from the original find sites, giving each piece a unique character.
To help preserve this craft, we regularly commission small batches of glasses, carafes, and similar items, some of which are occasionally available for sale. If you want to place an order feel free to get in touch with Matthias Schäfer (Contact below).
These forms and colors have already been produced:
“Krautstrunk”

“Zeidler”

Special glass shapes

carafes and bottles
